JBAA Wall of Fame Application

The University of Kansas Army ROTC Wall of Fame recognizes the exceptional achievements of distinguished Jayhawk Battalion ROTC commissioned officers. These individuals have demonstrated integrity, justice, and generosity through their service in uniform and their contributions to their community, state, and nation. Their exceptional acts of volunteerism, advocacy, professional distinction, public service, and philanthropy have made a significant impact.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. As a student at the University of Kansas or Partner Universities
  2. During the officer's military career
  3. In the officer's civilian life, reflected in their professional career and involvement in community and service activities.

If you know a Jayhawk Battalion alumnus who meets the above criteria, we encourage you to nominate them for the Hall of Fame. The application procedure is simple:

  1. Submit a nomination via email, letter, or attachment to the Jayhawk Battalion Alumni Association (JBAA) Wall of Fame to H. David Pendleton. In your nomination, please explain why the individual should be included in the Wall of Fame.

  2. Provide as much information as possible about the nominee, including their military biography, civilian resume, and links to relevant websites, to support your nomination.

  3. Each year, all nominations are carefully considered. The final decision is made by the Professor of Military Science in consultation with Mr. Pendleton and others. If a nominee is not selected, their nomination will be reconsidered in the following years.

  4. Typically, four candidates are selected each year, representing different categories: a) One individual who served in the Regular Army b) One individual who served primarily in the Army National Guard c) One individual who served primarily in the Army Reserve d) One individual recognized for their civilian activities Note: In general, candidates in the first three categories above must have achieved the rank of colonel unless there are extenuating circumstances.

  5. Due to various reasons, there may not always be four candidates inducted each year. Some individuals may defer their induction if they are unable to attend the event and be honored in a subsequent year. In rare cases, an individual may even decline the honor.
