MAJ Michael E. Hayes was born and raised in Kansas City. He received his commission in the Infantry in 2006 with an Associate’s in Liberal Arts from Wentworth Military Academy and earned his Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas in 2008.
He has held numerous company and staff positions to include: Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, Alpha Company 2nd Combined Arms Battalion (CAB) 137th Infantry Regiment, Kansas Army National Guard and Deployment to the Horn Of Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; S4 (Logistics Officer), 2-137th CAB; Senior Instructor and Senior Platoon Trainer, 1st Battalion OCS (Officer Candidate School) 235th Regional Training Institute, Salina Kansas; Infantry Company Commander, Alpha Company 2-137th CAB; Assistant Professor Of Military Science at Kansas State University; and Battalion Executive Officer at the University of Kansas.
His military training and education include: Infantry Officer Basic Course; Maneuver Captains Career Course; Mechanized Leaders Course; Air Assault Course; Rappel Master Course, Master Resiliency Trainer; Tactical Certification Course; and Army Basic Instructors Course
